Brothers Marc and Matty Hansen started jamming together in their basement back in their hometown Staten Island, New York. Their musical passion allowed them to officially form their rock band together with their childhood friends David Stagno and AJ Parascandola, which they named Electric Mud. But their musical journey was put on hold when the Hansen brothers joined the U.S. Navy in 2010. 

The two were stationed in sunny San Diego. During their time in the Navy, fate intervened when they crossed paths with Colton Cori. Colton is a fellow sailor who shares their love for music. On their days off, the trio would jam together wherever they could find a space. Feeling the pull of their shared musical destiny, the three sailors left the Navy to pursue music together. The Hansen brothers invited their cousin, Matthew Sorena to join their band on bass, and in 2016 Electric Mud was fully charged with their new lineup. 

Since then, they've been grinding it out, channeling the spirit of the old rock 'n' roll bands that paved the way before them. They draw inspiration from the golden era of rock 'n' roll. Electric Mud of San Diego infuses their sound with the nostalgic vibes of the 60s and 70s. It is a homage to legends like The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, Tom Petty, and Waylon Jennings.

Though they describe their music simply as rock 'n' roll, it doesn't do justice to the infectious energy and raw emotion they bring to the stage. With catchy songwriting and powerful hooks, Electric Mud is a band that commands attention with its dynamic live performances. They leave their audiences captivated and craving for more.

In 2017, they unleashed their debut album Dangerous Promises. It sets the stage for their meteoric rise in the music scene. Since then, San Diego’s Electric Mud has garnered critical acclaim and accolades, cementing its status as an award-winning band.

But what sets Electric Mud apart isn't just their electrifying sound—it's their unwavering commitment to authenticity. The band stays true to its roots: reviving the essence of authentic rock ‘n’ roll.  Electric Mud band members infuse their music with the raw emotion and grit from their military experiences.

With each chord and every lyric, the songs of Electric Mud seek to rekindle the essence of true rock 'n' roll, transcending the boundaries of time and space. Their songs speak to the soul as well as give testament to the power of passion and perseverance.

In 2019, their album Highway Refugees earned them the prestigious title of Best Rock Album at the 2019 San Diego Music Awards. They also earned recognition at the International Singer-Songwriter Association (ISSA) Awards, where they clinched the titles of Album of the Year and Artist of the Year. All these have solidified their status in the rock ’n’ roll genre. 

But beyond the glitz and glamor of the awards stage, Electric Mud remains grounded in its mission to inspire and uplift through the universal language of music. 

The members of the award-winning San Diego rock band Electric Mud jam organically together. Their synergy on stage is a testament to the bond forged through years of shared passion and dedication. With group members Marc Hansen on vocals and guitar, Colton Cori on guitar, Matthew Sorena on bass, and Matt Hansen on drums, they form a powerhouse ensemble that leaves an indelible mark on every stage they grace. 

They have since reunited with founding member David Stagno to bring fresh excitement and new creative energy from songwriting and the studio to the stage.

In 2023, the Hansen brothers and Colton each made individual strides in their music careers with solo album releases. Marc Hansen released his solo album titled True Believer. Meanwhile, Matt Hansen debuted an album called Super Nova under the band name Box Chevy which showcased a different facet of his musical talent.  Colton Cori showcased his musical talents with the release of his album Somewhere Near Wasco.

As they continue to push the boundaries of rock 'n' roll, Electric Mud remains steadfast in their commitment to authenticity and innovation. With a nod to the past and an eye toward the future, they stand as torchbearers for a new generation of rockers. They keep the flame of true rock 'n' roll burning bright for years to come.
